Maik has been thowing the ball out much more recently, and it seems to result in much more controlled play. I can;t recall Doyle throwing the ball out at all, and his kicking needs improving.

Thought Tiny was immense. Wwas not up against much, but one everythnig in the air and on the ground.

Seb really picked up half way through the second half, he also put in some decent challenges that were missing last weekend. He seemed to enjoy it more after that too.

O'Connor was very good, but I don;t think he'd get away with some of his dribbling against higher level opposition. Jury is still out for me, although it does look promising.

THe forward who is hungry and in form for me is Jerome.
I would start with him above ANY of the rest.

I don't understand McSheff. A couple of brighter touches, but generally just not the player he was.

Quedrue went walkabout a couple of times, but did not do much wrong. I think he's a good option, certainly as backup, particularly as he can play in the centre too.

Quincey's finish was sublime, and a couple of other good runs and shots too. Give him a couple of weeks and he'll be flying. Could be an extremely good capture. On You Tube already for those who have not seen it yet...

Overall, we were at half pace. The oposition were abysmal, but we were patient. Did all that was required (and a bit more, with 3 quality goals).

Stuart Parnaby.......If he keeps playing so well he may keep Kelly out

no, kelly is twice the player and always will be.

parnaby is nothing more than an incredibly good sub.

Doyle 7

Parnaby 7
Taylor 7
Ridgewell 7
Murphy 6

Larsson 7
Carsley 7
Nafti 6
Mcsheffrey 6

O'Connor 8*
Phillips 6

Subs
Quedrue 6
Jerome 7
Quincy 7

Yes guys, dont virus check uour PCs but Lowdham has given O,Connor MoM award.

It was good to see a clean sheet again. Doyles save at 1-0 was a game-turner as it prevented a 1-1 and set up a 2-0 within a minute.
O'Connor played intelligently, unselfishly and with commitment.
Jerome showed why he is streets ahead of Bent. Commitment, pace and quality finish.

Bent 10 - stayed on the bench yet offered just as much to the attack as he did v Sheffield Utd

How can you say that. They are two different players, Kelly never gets forward. Jerome would never scored that goal last night if Kelly was in the team.

I'd rather have Parnaby TBH.

Good professional performance for me ratings as follows

Doyle 7 Did everything right

Parnaby 8 Good going foward
Taylor 7 Solid, good distribution
Ridgewell 7 See above
Murphy 6 Did enough

Larsson 7 Average until his good movement and finish for goal
Carsley 7 Quality
Nafti 7 Great finish for goal
Mcsheffrey 6 Should be worried after seeing Quincy

O'Connor 8* (mom) Best I've seen him play so far, great link up play
Phillips 7 Good dropping off for the ball

Subs
Quedrue 5 All over the place!
Jerome 7 Looked sharp
Quincy 7 Good first impression, class goal

What you reckon?

What you have to remember is quedrue is not match fit and these players are. makes a huge difference after pre season

I'd really like to know what Quedrue did wrong. I was at the game and he did everything in defence he needed to, and provided very good attacking options. It seems some people are entrenched in disliking certain players and will not shift.

Same with the 'Kelly is twice the player Paranby is, and always will be' statement. That is so biased as to be untrue. Also it tells it's own story in that it gives no chance of Parnaby ever improving in the writers eyes.

Why are people so anti Blues players when they purport to be Blues supporters. It is never a matter of 'the guy made an error but his overall performance was good', or even 'I prefer one over the other' it is always he's a total write off and dismissal of certain players. Life just isn't like that.

It's just a few folk on here, but it beats me how support and total lack of support go together.

Quedrue was just terrible when he came on, so many missplaced passes.

I agree, Not helping his cause in getting into the first team, he also turns his back to a attacker when they are running down the right hand side, he just needs to stick a foot in and take the ball, that will help him get in the first team, but, he can thread some nice pin point passes liek he did aginst Man City

wouldn't say that... Taylor played really well on Saturday, still deserves to start, plus his kicking is better

Would Maik have made the save Doylie did tonight? no way.
start Doyle on Sat please

Shows what you know.......Taylor is known as a shot stopper, it's his command of his area at set pieces that lets him down.........many managers and pundits have acclaimed him for his shot stopping ability, infact many whos judgement I would gladly value over yours..........it's like a Spanish Inquisition on here when some fans get a bee in their bonnet over certain players.............they will never earn praise no matter what they do. :banghead:

Cheeky 5od, I know enough about football to have an opinion to rival anyones. Football is all about opinions, at all levels,
To me Maik is not a great Keeper,IMO not as good as Colin Doyle.
Notice most of the Saturday afternoon EXPERTS on sky said we should have bought a new keeper in the Jan window.

On the Basis of that last point are you suggesting the EXPERTS on sky sports are in a better position to judge who we should sign than Mr Mcleish???
He must feel there were/are positions that need strengthening more.
I personally bellieve Taylor and Doyle are different in their approach but if you were to give them computer game style ratings then overall there wouldnt be too much between them, and therefore id come to the conclusion that Taylor is being played because of a large amount of experience at the highest level.
